CONNEX size 6/6-S: New generation for contacting up to 2500 mm²

PFISTERER remains committed to further development of the CONNEX dry plug-in connection system: After revising size 5-S and optimising size 4, work is now in progress on the new version of size 6/6-S - type-tested successfully in July 2009 for Um 245 kV in accordance with IEC 62067 10/2001. The design sheet for this new variant of CONNEX size 6/6-S shows experts at a glance that several improvements have been made: Through the integration of pressure sleeve insulation, the spring is now separated from the earth potential. This now makes it possible to conduct sheath defect tests without the need for disassembly. The changeover from thread feed to radial feed with the help of stud bolts also makes it much easier to fit the seal. This is therefore easy to perform without special tools, and is now made much easier in confined spaces using just an Allen key and a torque wrench. The earth connection to the flange bell housing is now produced using four instead of the previous two defined points, resulting in much better distribution of transient currents. In addition, the application range for size 6/6-S was extended to cable cross sections of up to 2500 mm².
